A Snowball’s Chance

Dreaming of a White Christmas

How the faith of a child can melt an iceberg of logic into a puddle of possibility.

As a little boy, I felt cheated growing up in a desert where most Christmas songs did not apply… where the tree tops DID NOT glisten and the children DID NOT listen to sleigh bells in the snow. I envied the children of the world who woke up Christmas morning in a winter wonderland.

THEN CAME LAST WINTER…

A half-century later, and now a grandpa, I learned how the faith of a child can change everything.

A CHRISTMAS STORY FOR ALL AGES

LYMAN HAFEN grew up deprived of snow in St. George, Utah. In spite of the lack of winter wonder, he loves Utah’s Dixie almost as much as he loves his wife Debbie, his six children, their spouses, and his sixteen grandchildren. This is his first picture book – which he says is the truest story he has ever written.

ESTER WEST also grew up in sunny St. George, Utah. Her career as a school librarian/media coordinator allowed her to share her love of books with menagerie of middle school students. Once retired, she began writing and illustrating children’s books about the history of southern Utah.
